BOA/Peter Seabrook Scholarship 2026 Winner Announced

The British Ornamentals Association (BOA), in partnership with the family of Peter Seabrook and the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation, is pleased to announce that Manfred Roscher has been awarded the 2026 BOA / Peter Seabrook Scholarship.

The scholarship recognises emerging talent within the ornamental horticulture sector and supports individuals committed to developing a long-term career in the industry.

Manfred is currently undertaking a Crop Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship at Pershore College, which he is due to complete next year. Alongside his studies, he works at Hillier Nurseries, where he is gaining practical experience across a wide range of production horticulture disciplines.

Originally from South Africa, Manfred developed an early passion for plants and horticulture, which has continued to grow throughout his career. His application demonstrated strong enthusiasm, commitment, and a clear ambition to progress within the sector. Trustees unanimously agreed that he is a highly deserving recipient of this year’s award.

The scholarship will support Manfred in further developing his industry knowledge while enabling him to build valuable professional connections through engagement with BOA activities, technical groups, and industry events. As part of the award, he will also receive a complimentary one-year student membership to the Association.

Peter Seabrook was a founding Trustee of the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation and one of the horticultural industry’s most influential journalists and ambassadors. This scholarship continues his legacy by supporting the next generation of horticultural talent.

The BOA remains committed to supporting growers across the ornamental sector, particularly in areas such as research and development, marketing, and industry representation. By fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the Association aims to strengthen the sector and support future leaders like Manfred.
